James, a partner in Stronachs’ corporate department, joined Stronachs in 1994. He is dual qualified in Scots and English law.
He is involved in a variety of corporate work for clients such as Walkers Shortbread Limited but now spends the vast majority of his time working on upstream oil and gas transactions such as acquisitions and disposals, field developments, decommissioning security arrangements, farm-ins, transportation and processing agreements and product sales agreements.
On the oil and gas front he acts for clients such as Petrofac Energy Developments and Centrica Energy Upstream. He has international oil and gas experience having advised on issues in jurisdictions such as the US, Malaysia, the Caribbean and Egypt.
James was a contributor to both “The Technical and Legal Guide to the UK Oil and Gas Industry” and to the three volume “Technical and Legal Guide to Global Hydrocarbons”.
He is listed as a recommended oil and gas lawyer in the 2012 edition of the Legal 500.
