James, a partner in Stronachs' corporate department, has been with Stronachs since 1994. He is involved in a variety of corporate work for clients such as Walkers Shortbread Limited but now spends the majority of his time on upstream oil and gas transactions such as field acquisitions and disposals, farm-ins, transportation and processing agreements and product sales agreements etc.

On the oil and gas front he acts for clients such as Petrofac Energy Developments Limited and Fairfield Energy Limited. James also has international oil and gas experience having acted for Venture Production plc's Trinidadian subsidiary in the acquisition of interests in Trinidad and later for Venture Production plc in the sale of that subsidiary.

James wrote several chapters of "The Technical and Legal Guide to the UK Oil and Gas Industry". James is listed as a recommended oil and gas lawyer in the 2009 edition of the Legal 500.
